I have downloaded VSO Image Resizer 2.1.3.5 from Major Geeks a couple of times, including the latest release today at http://www.majorgeeks.com/VSO_Image_Resizer_d5246.html

It crashes each time with the following error. (see thumbnail attached).
AFAIK, there is nothing else running that could conflict with it.

Can someone see if it installs on your PC, and come back to me. :cry :(
Or suggest a better resizing program. Thanks.

I tried again using the program install defaults. (Not where I wanted to install it, but). It came up with a different error, but along the same lines. It was something to do with an Italy.png (whatever that is) so I clicked on "Ignore" and proceeded. It installed and is working. See my latest post at http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=174597 (#8-- yet to be posted for examples of using the VSP Resizer).

Still would like to know what resizing programs y'all use, though.:major Bazza

    Hi Bazza

Could use one of XPs Powertoys as in Resizer Toy or XNView

Are you installing this app in XP in the Admin account? I managed to even install this in Windows 7 OK!!! although I dont like its nag so for XP the XP Powertoy is king as well as XNView.

Thanks Halo, the nag is a PITA but the program is working for me now. I will try your recommendations as a separate exercise. Next problem on my list is to get Acronis True Image Home v2009 working for me. Acronis and I are emailling each other. I cannot do backups until it is fixed, or go back to v11.

Check out my scans at http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=174597 , post #8 and #9 for my first scanning attempts using VSO. :major

I use a free online image resizer called QuickResizer Image Resizer. If you are away from your PC and don't want to download any software, you can just use this online version for free. It's quick and it's easy to use.

You can also download their full version of QuickResizer image resizer if you want to resize multiple files in a folder with just a click of the mouse.

Both programs work great for me so far. You might want to try them out.

This is just a trial version, so not really much use as long-term freeware.

@Bazza - try PicSizer http://majorgeeks.com/PicSizer_d5046.html It is free and I have been using it for years. Doesn't lose much in quality of picture either which has been important for me.
