I can't uninstal AVG

Is there a free uninstall program out there? Have others run into this message?

Yes there are a few tools, you can normally get one from AVG, if not they did have some here in the downloads section. If not google for them.

Not with AVG, but I have on other antivirus programs. It is mostly due to the fact that the antivirus companies build their software to be hard to remove so viruses have a harder time disabling or corrupting it. It is kind of a protection mechanism. It is very common in particular to Norton.

 

If AVG will not uninstall--(I use Revo free version: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html) or, if it's not showing up in revo, and I have remnants: AppRemover by Opswat. The uninstaller can be downloaded from here: APP Remover Go to their homepage and you will see they have support for removal of other AV's as well http://www.appremover.com/

 

Before you uninstall any av program, use ctrl+alt+del to see what is running and end all the av processes. You'll probably get a warning which can be ignored.

Revo Uninstaller works well because it first uses the program's own uninstaller than goes a step further by locating all the registry entries left behind.

 

I got it. Thanks everyone. I only needed it for the anti-virus, malware, thing on MajorGeeks. I put the logs in my post there.
