I did everything on the list but to no avail

    So now I want to completely restore and wipe this crap clean once and for all. I have my windows xp disk and I burned what files I can't live without to cd. What is the next step to start over? And once I reinstall XP, how do I get my internet back on track so I can download SP2 and regain the use of my computer?

    Seein as you've done all that stuff can you tell me what it means on number three when it says click on your main hard drive. Probably a stupid question but I donit get it.

    If my computer was running better, I could go look at the list and see exactly what it is that you're referring to, but as it stands, it's running worse than dial-up and I have no patience for that. I'll be glad to offer what help I can once I get this thing running well.

    As mentioned here, you can get infected immediately on install. I would milk it anf get SP2 on CD free from Microsoft. Broadband networking like cable modems work out fo the box, anything else should have software. Write down all your hardware, get newest drivers for everything, video, sounds, motherboard, modems, etc., before you wipe out and get them on CD.
