I have problems opening my drives

    Hi all,

    apparently, i have problem double clicking and opening my drives for the past few days. I can only open when i right click and open..

    and today, i happened to open a file which infected my entire pc, so decided to format it.

    but the problem did not go away. now i cant even right click and open, it says "Choose a program you want to use to open this file" before i installed SP2, it did mentioned "boot.exe" not found.

    now i can only view the drive when i use explorer.


    Can any kind soul help me on this?? really appreciate it very much.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    If you formatted your drive and reinstalled your OS from original uninfected media then your problems may not be malware. Did you also delete your partition and then recreate the partition? If you did not delete the partition, there is a chance that you had a lower level infection like a boot sector virus. I would suggest you start over and this time delete the all partitions. Then recreate them and then format and reinstall. Make sure you are reinstalling your software from original uninfected media.
