I need better coffee ...

Ok, I've been down this road before, but as-per-often is the case it seems, I don't recall how to "fix" it. I've looked-back through my previous posts, and don't see anywhere that I got an answer (just eventually ended-up figuring it out on my own I suppose)

I have "lost" the ability to use "B" (Bold)/"I" (Italics)/"U" (Underline) here - and in my email account. Also, the pages (actually, the boxes to post into - such as this one in which I am typing at the moment) are "elongated" (for lack of a better description).

In my email "body-box", this is what appears at the top when I go to compose a message:

<br><br><strong><em><font size="7" face="times new roman"><font style="background-color:rgb(0, 255, 255);">grc<img src="http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/40.gif"></font></font></em></strong>.

Any "clues" for an old man?

 

When did this start to happing?
Was it after installing a NET Framework 3.5 update by any chance?
I asking because i seen someone else with this same problem on another forum.
He tracked the problem down to that update causing it.

Well, as often seems to be the case (at least in my case), the "issue" seems to have mysteriously "resolved itself" (?). I thought maybe I had figured it out the other day, but now I can't recall exactly what it was that I was thinking it might have been, other than the fact that I've been having some Firewall "issues". I've been through four FW's in four days, but I "think" that I've settled now (for the time being, anway) on Sygate.

I am not certain about the "NET Framework 3.5 update". Honestly I didn't know that the .net Framework "thing" had moved beyond 3.0 (?). But I don't see any evidence of it in my Add/Remove program list (with the "Show Updates" box checked).

So ..... thanks for the reply, and the information - I'll ("try" to) remember it for possible future "issues". :confused
