I don't have firsthand experience with any of these programs - I am satisfied with Adobe Audition which does everything I need.

Thanks for jumping in. I already use Audacity but it is difficult (not impossible) to cross-fade between tracks. I'm paralyzed.

Other options were MIDI while I'm working with audio (.wav and .mp3).

I have RealBand which allows 48 tracks but wrapping my head around it at my age (just turned 75) is a brick wall. So, back to delving.

Ardore looks awesome, exactly what I am looking for. But, if I'm reading it correctly, it's $45. I know there are some excellent freeware DAWs out there somewhere.
