I still seem to be having issues with pop-ups. I've attached the 5 logs from running the MGtools. Can anyone take a look and tell me if I still have problems that weren't removed?

Hi Tim, thanks for your response. Attached are all of the files you requested. Do you need the spybot log too?

Also, can you tell me if all of the infections being found might also be causing my cable internet to go down. A few times a day, I loose my internet connection. The cable modem power and receive lights are solid, but the send light keeps blinking. Also, I cant shut the modem off using the power button, I need to pull out the power cord in order to get the modem to shut down. Then I usually need to reboot the pc in order to get the connection working again.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You may need to contact your Internet Provider and have them get you a new modem.

Actually it looks like the scans took care of most of it...let's just do this:

Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now use windows explorer to find and delete ( if it is still there):
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure you get a success message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

Hi Tim, I went to the add/remove programs, but there is no program named:

    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
I also searched for files with the name J2SE, nothing came up.

    Any thoughts?

Hi Tim, even though I didn't find the J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6, I went ahead and followed your other steps. Attached is the MGtools zip file. Please let me know if you see anything else. Thanks for your help.

Re: the J2SE is this related to Java? I have some misc. java files on my computer, should I manually delete these?

Also, my internet outages may simply have been the result of some loose wires.

    Thanks again for your time!!

If you look in the MGLogs.zip folder you will see the newfiles txt and the Java file is in your add/remove programs.......so just uninstall all old Java files and download and install:
    Java Runtime 6

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

Hi Tim, I believe I've done everything on the list to cleanup. However, I still could not find the Java program that is listed in the mgtools log. Although I see it listed in the log, it doesn't show up in my add/delete programs list??? I've also continued to look for it manually in my C: program files directory, but nothing. Any ideas on how to locate?

Also, I've not had any pop-up problems over the last day, which is great...Thank you, thank you!

Just one final question. Ever since these problems began my mouse has experience poor response time. Basically, the pointer tends to get "hung up", or "skip" as I'm moving the mouse. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Thanks again for all of your help! And thanks to everyone who helped to build this helpful resource!!

As long as you have the most recent one I linked you to......as to the mouse, it just may need cleaning (if a regular scroll mouse, you can turn the back plate to get to the ball and clean the wheels).....otherwise you may have to look at the properties in the control panel or ask in the software section.

    :)
