    Dear Admin, I have done the " READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide" for vista and have the following reports, I was wondering if someone could please have a look and tell me if I need to go any further before I wipe my sys restore. AT this stage I cannot find any other virus or malware however when i installed the new anti virus protection comodo it came up with these items and I am not sure what to do here.

    Also do I need to and how do I do each of my external drives without the possibility of infecting my computer again? Sorry I sound like an idiot but I am not that familiar with this sort of stuff.
    Thanks in advance your site is awsome, by the way is there a way I can donate as your info is so valuable.

    If there is anything else you require or questions please let me know.
    Greatly appreciated
    Dave

    Yes, kinda had to squint to see, but alot are false detections, it flagged things like combofix and MGTools.exe being bad when they aren't.

    You can scan with both MBAM and SAS one at a time, making sure you complete a FULL scan this time, then you can select which drives to scan from the list.

    Please attach the remaining log, the most important one:

    No problem.

    Tell me what you know of this file?

    • C:\tzxremov.bat

    If you don't know, then delete it.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Driver::
    QBIOSIO

    File::
    c:\windows\system32\QBIOSIo.dll
    c:\windows\system32\brmsl08f5.dll
    C:\sys24035.bin

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670}\NoExplorer]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      [IMG]

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know how things are running now. And address any questions I may have asked, please. :)

    Use windows explorer to find and delete:

    C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe.exp.log Take care to delete the correct file.

    let me know it deleted successfully, now take a while to utilise the computer and let me know how things are running, I shall be giving you final steps soon if all is well. :)

    Hi Kestrel, i uninstalled avg the other day as major geeks said it was not the best and was a computer user, i put in comodo because it was suggested. Sorry about that.

    By the way, my email account just sent an email to my friend asking her to go to a link, it looks very facebooky but there is no reference to facebook. I can not see it in my sent bin either and for that matter, it has my whole name as the sender and I never put my middle names in anything. Do you know what this could be?

    I also deleted the svchost......... thanks, I had comodo block somthing from speaking to that file this morning and I think i allowed it. I also had comodo blocking benq sound somthing also. Ill restart and see what happens next and let you know.
    Thanks
    Dave

    Malware detected in email databases has to be cleaned up by you. You have a few choices:
    Email infections have to be cleaned out by you :(

    1. delete the whole file which is not an option you normally want to use
    2. load the email folder that contains the infection and delete ALL unnecessary emails (hoping to remove the problem email) and then use the Mailbox Cleanup option to delete all old emails. Then compact the Outlook database to permanently remove data. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/196990 If you do not cleanup and compact the databases, the deleted emails may still be leaving hidden information in the database that you just cannot see but a scanner may still pickup on it.
    3. create a new folder and move only emails you really need into the new folder and then delete the infected folder.

    You can post in software for further advice on this. :)

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
