Upon start-up, I receive the following messages:

[/B] Update.exe - Unable to Locate Component[/B]
Windows cannot find C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00013.exe.

and also...

This application has failed to start because System.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem.

Think of the most clueless computer user that relies on the technology at her fingertips to only check her e-mail and play minesweeper, and you've got me. In other words, the simpler the terminology the better.

Thank you ahead of time for trying to help me.

If you had this file on your PC, you had a potentially dangerous password stealer (called Torpig) installed and you need to take the below warning seriously.

You are strongly advised to do the following immediately:

Disconnect infected computer from the internet and from any networked computers until the computer can be cleaned. If you have network compters, start checking them for problems too.

Call all of your banks, credit card companies, financial institutions and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and to put a watch on your accounts or change all your account numbers.

From a clean computer, change *all* your online passwords -- for email, for banks, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, online companies, any online forums or groups you belong to.

Do NOT change passwords or do any transactions while using the infected computer because the attacker will get the new passords and transaction information.

If you use this PC for a lot of financial related transactions, the safest thing to do is to reinstall to be really sure that you are clean. However if you wish to just clean all infections that we can find, continue on with the below.
