Hello - my laptop has OS XP Professional version 2002. Originally when things went haywire... I couldn't see any of my icons on my desktop. I was able to run "firefox" and get here MG site. I was able to run the Malware Removal and was only able to get the attached logs. I couldn't uninstall AVG 2011 which didn't allow me to run some of the anti-malware. I have tried downloading it and hitting the removal button several times with no success.

When I tried get one of the logs to show on my desktop, that's when the missing icons on my desktop seemed to magically appear.... only thing is they appeared as "ghosts". I can see them, but they seem translucent. I did try to open a file and everything in it was "ghosts". I could see through them. And yes the log was able to be sent to the desktop.

When I hit the start button and go to the Programs, the only thing listed right now are Malware Anti-Malware, Super AntiSpyware and AVAST. Previous to running the Malware Removal there was nothing listed in Programs.

Attached are the two logs that were able to run. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

This would stop you from running ComboFix but it does not normally stop you from running MGtools. Did you try to run MGtools as requested?

Please download and save the below to your Desktop or anywhere else you can find it ( if the Desktop is not showing )

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

Now run it. Now see if you can find your Programs and how are the icons on the Desktop looking?

Thank you Chaslang! The icons and programs are now visible. As soon as I read your response I remembered where the MG log was. It is now attached. Do you know a way to get rid of AVG2011 or is it here to stay?

    Thank you again!

    :-D

You can download and run the appropriate AVG Remove Tool for your PC from the below link:

    http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities

Run it to remove AVG. Then you can run ComboFix if you are still having malware problems.

You also had Avira installed!!!! And you have left overs from McAfee. You should never have more than one antivirus program installed. See the READ & RUN ME instructions.
