I just bought a new barebone kit and didn't even realize that it is for SATA hard drives. I have an IDE hard drive and don't have the $$ to buy a SATA hard drive after buying the barebone.

I am trying to figure out the best way to handle this. Do I buy a ide to SATA converter or do I buy a ide pci controller card? Or is there another way around this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I recently had a computer with that problem - you have not said, but I assume your motherboard has one IDE slot that you are using for the cd/dvd rom.
Using a cable with 2 connections, you can run the IDE drive on the same cable, set it to master, and you should be o.k
When you have the readies, you can add a sata drive, if you want to.

I have a dvd player and a burner, but I guess I could deal without the player and do it as you suggested. That should work.

    Thanks.
