IE7 Download problem

After I replace my hard drive on my Gateway, I begin to
received all of Microsoft updates. Everything has been
updated now except IE7. It shows that it tried to downlaod
and install it, but it failed. I download it from Microsoft and
installed it. Every thing seem to install ok, but when you
click on the icon nothing happened. It made the machine
unstable so I finally had to resore to another time. It works
fine but I still don't have IE7.
I can find nothing on Microsoft's site to help. Anyone have
any ideas as to what the problem is and how to get IE 7 installed.

I understand that you want to be current and up to date, but is there a particular reason why you need IE7? From what I understand from your post, you installed a new hard drive, and then installed a clean, new copy of Windows XP. You did all the updates but IE7 didn't install correctly; is this right? Did you go straight to the updates after installing Windows XP, or did you install some other software or do something else first?

 

The only thing that I did was set up my DSL internet connection and
install Microsoft Word.
I let the Windows updates come in automatically which they did. Automatic
Update tried to download IE7, but it shows it failed. I tried to download it from Microsoft when I installed it everything went fine but after it rebooted IE 7 would not work. Any ideas would be appreciated.
