I'm out of ideas - Active X scripts not running

Need some help. Not just mental either. Any page or program that utilizes script will not load while at the same time I am not able to system restore (shows up blank) and WMP will not work. Kind of funny it's all MS items hich has me thinking malware, but not 100% sure. All the proper buttons are checked under internet options - security. I would like to fix this without re-loading from the beginning my whole system, but at this point it seems the easiest solution to fix the issue unless someone has an idea. I'm running XP Pro wwith ie7.

Do you have SpywareBlaster (or something like that)? There's a button that disables ActiveX in it. I finally found out that that was what was preventing me from doing Windows Update.

 

I did notice it shortly after uninstalling Norton 360 trial version and Ad-aware. It unistalled okay and I removed any remenance out of the HK files in regedit.

 

Easier solution is to download another browser, either FF or Opera and see if you have the same problem with an alternate browser. It could be IE 7 too. Some people report glitches with it and revert back to IE 6; others have no problem with IE 7.

 

Try the steps below.

Login as Administrator or equivalent. Click Start, Run and type these commands one by one:

regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
