I got a Sony digital camera and came with a software package that has received many bad reviews. I am new to this field, and wonder ..

Do you know a freeware offering that is good and easy to use for
resizing, editing, mixing and color enhancement etc

    these are all freeware........

    Gimp http://www.gimp.org/screenshots/

    IfanView http://www.irfanview.com/

    XNview http://perso.wanadoo.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enhome.html

Gimp is a pretty good for a free app, XNview and IfanView are image viewers but do also carry alot of cropping, colour, add text etc etc options. If you want to go to a paid design app then Microsofts Digital Imaging Pro 9 is very very good for the price as is PaintShop Pro.

then up the ladder in cost and features is the daddy of them all Adobe Photoshop CS .... too many features for first time use tho plus the cost of the software is off putting to most.
