Incredibly Slow MBAM and SAS Pro.

so first off, if this is the wrong place to post i am sorry, i tried my best.

anyway

I was running MBAM and SAS Pro, and they were going really slow.
I am trying to rid my computer of antivirus xp pro 2009.
After 6 hours MBAM had only scanned 3000 objects.
After 7 hours SAS Pro had only scanned 100 memory items, 200 registry items, and 600 file items.
all these numbers are rounded to the nearest hundred.
Anyway, is this normal or what can I do to speed this up? I've been making progress against the latest version of antivirus xp pro 2009, but this is slowing me up. have not tried mg or combofix yet.
so what do i do, and whats the next step?

Thanks for the concern. I just got it finished yesterday and after quite a bit of tinkering on the computer I ended up getting rid of the problem on my own. You guys really helped educate me about the process, what to do, etc. Specifically an article you wrote. So thank you.
