When my computer boots up the ligt on it flickers, also when i put a disk into it it comes on and auto play pops up several times very fast then nothing. Also my computer is not showing it in "MY Computer" do i need a cd to install it? help pls.

Are you adding it as a second CDROM or is it the only one? If you are adding it to a computer that already has a CDROM you will have to change the jumpers to make it a slave drive.

Check and see if it is listed in your Device Manager
    Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager
Click the boxed "+" sign next to "DVD/CD ROM drives
If it shows either an "!" or a "?" next to the drive, double click on it and read what the error is.
It is likely that it is using a device driver that is generic when it requires a specific driver.

thank you for your reply's. I just put in a different one I had and it works. No clue why 1st one wouldn't ... maybe it wasn't a working one. Any way i got a working one installed now! So if i have any problems burning dvds I'll be back in a different thread!! lol :D
