Installing Printer problem.

Totally removed the printer software & drivers and did a reinstall via HP web site and also tried the CD that came with printer.
Both failed with "Unable to start the application-the Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class not registered"

Also when I go to Start>Control Panel>Printer & Fax and then I click on Add Printer it fails with "Operation could not be completed. The Printer Spooler service is not running"

Has anyone seen this before and would know how to fix it?

Do you have Java installed? Do you have a Java icon in your Control Panel? If you don't have it, you can download Java at http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

 

Down loaded and installed Java.
But when I try to restart Printer Spooler service but it fails with
"Could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

Any ideas?

 

In the Component Services panel, select Print Spooler in the list of Services, right click on it, select Properties, and click on the Dependencies tab. Verify that any services shown there are running. Then try restarting your Print Spooler service. Did it work?

RPCSS stands for Remote Procedure Call Services

 

I decided to do a repair of the OS and that seamed to fix the problem.
