So do you want to end up with both vista and xp when you're done, or just xp?

First, back up all your documents, pictures, videos to a flash drive. You do not need the complete contents of the drive, you don't need the programs, as you will have to reinstall those in XP..

Boot from the XP CD and select a advanced or custom install, then choose to format the hard disk. That will wipe out your vista and leave you with a clean drive. Then proceed through the installation as prompted. When the installation is done, first this is to install anti-virus software, then install the network, audeo, and video drivers that your system uses.

Make sure before you do any of this that you first download the network, audio, and video drivers that you will need for your computer when it is running xp.
