I accidently hit the "remember my password" button and now my IM logs in automatically.

Yes, I've gone into TOOLS/OPTIONS/GENERAL and unchecked that option.

On the MSN IM website Help screen is this comment:

"In Microsoft Windows XP, selecting the Sign me in automatically check box stores your sign-in information on your computer. Do not select this check box on public computers or computers you share with others."

No reference as to how to remove it from my computer.

I thought there was a checkbox in either the USERS or the program file.

When I go into USERS/USER NAMES AND PASSWORDS, the only option is to delete the username and start over. When I go into the PASSPORT account, I get the same option.

Isn't there a way to simply undo the autologon?

    I have XP.

    thank you!

I tried that, and rebooted. Nothing. I don't even get the option to enter a password, on the logon screen. All I see is nay username and "sign in".

I'll go try the USERS/MANAGE PASSWORDS.

    heavy sigh

    That didn't work either.

I think this computer is haunted.

    you could try,

Start > Control Panel > User Accounts click your account and choose Manage My Network Passwords > remove the email address to the passport/.net ( or the one you use for MSN ) and try again

    > sadly I'm in work and cannot test this out as pc are secure from all those apps( no damm fun! )

    That's what I just tried: USERS/MANAGE PASSWORDS.

In fact my username and password are no longer on that list. Which seems impossible to me.

    Thanks for trying.

    Here's what I did:

    CONTROL PANEL
    USER ACCTS
    ADVANCED TAB
    MANAGE PASSWORDS
    STORED USERNAMES/PASSWORDS
    REMOVED THE MSN IM USERNAME/PASSWORD

    REBOOTED

I still have autologin to MSN IM.

That information must be stored somewhere else, as well.

That worked! Now, what did I sacrifice by deleting the Passport entries?

    Thank you Thank you!

Nothing really apart from having to re-enter your MS passport login details on MSN each time, which is what you were after and if you did have say Hotmail/MSN mail set to remember you, you will have to enter them again.
