I bought a new laptop with the Intel Pro 200BG card installed. I am on an older (three years?) Linksys wireless network (BEFW1154). When I try to attach to the network I can't get an IP. When I let Windows try to repair the link, I get this error message: "windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed renewing your ip address". My suspicion is that this is an XP SP2 issue, but I'm stumped. Any ideas?

Does your router have the latest firmware revision? I only ask b/c I had a similar issue with Intel wireless notebook adapters connecting to several Netgear routers I have-- could be your Linksys' issue, too.

Ensure your Linksys is set up for DHCP. Check if your SSID is being broadcast. If running WEP is it an Open Key or Shared key, running a shared key will keep you from accessing your router too. Sometimes this helps for me........ in a cmd prompt type ipconfig /release, then do an ipconfig /renew.

    good luck

Thanks for the kind replies. I'll give both of these good ideas a shot. (I did receive a fast, yet lame, reply from Linksys via email where they failed to answer the question I asked, so I can see a long road of back and forth with them trying to get something done!).

    Thanks again.
