Intermittent temporary freezes

My computer intermittently freezes temporarily, sometimes for only a second or two, sometimes for a minute or more. Often there is no visual indication of a problem, but sometimes during the longer freezes, the UltraMon move window button on the active window will enlarge and turn black. When the freeze ends, operations resume normally. Sometimes I can go several hours with no problem, sometimes it happens several times within a short amount of time. Since it's so sporadic, I'm not sure quite when it started, but I'd guess about a month or so ago. I don't know if this problem is malware related, but I thought I would start there.

I also discovered this morning that I am unable to boot into safe mode via F8. It just blows right on by and loads Windows normally. I attempted it several times. I've never tried to use safe mode on this machine before (I've had it about 6 months), so I don't know if it's always been that way. Maybe not related, but I thought it was odd.

I ran the read me instructions on May 7th and waited to see if it helped, but it doesn't seem to be any better. The attached logs are from that day.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I am not finding any malware in your logs. You do need to run CCleaner to clean out your temp folders.

I suggest you post in the software forum for further assistance.

Since you are not having any malware related problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    • Any programs we had you download and/or install can be removed at this time.
    • If we had you download and run ComboFix, here is how to uninstall it:
      • Press and hold the Windows key [IMG] and then press the letter R on your keyboard.
      • This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below text inside the text-field:
        • "%userprofile%\desktop\ComboFix" /uninstall

      • Now press ENTER
      • ComboFix will extract its files one last time and you should receive a notification that ComboFix has been uninstalled shortly after.

    • You can re-enable your Disk Emulation software at this time via DeFogger.
    • If we had you create or download a registry patch or "fix" script, these can be deleted at this time.
    • Go into the C:\MGtools folder and run the MGclean.bat file to remove additional traces of our tools.
    • Now we will toggle System Restore to remove any infected system restore points.

    • Lastly, here is a guide to protect you from future infections: How to Protect yourself from malware!
    • Be safe :)
