Intermittently Doesn't boot past windows loading screen

Hi,

I have a computer here im trying to get up & running its a Compaq Presario
SR1560AN
CPU: 64 Processor 3200+
Mem: 512mb ram
Hard Drive: 160GB hdd
DVD burner
Nvidia PCIE - 6200 3D 256mb mem
Front Memory card reader etc.

heres whats happening, The machine Intermittently will not boot past the windows XP loading screen.

So far. I have tried a new mainboard, hard drive, sata cable, new ram & disconnecting the memory card reader etc.

machine is only freshly installed. anyone have any ideas???

I would try this, unhook the power plugs from everything you dont need to boot[ cd-rom, floppy, if you have one, extra fans if any, reduce the load on the power supply and lets see if that helps anything. ed

 

i agree with tunered, and also check out PSU, it can cause this.

 

Go in bios, load defaults, reboot. See your mobo manual for bios info.
