I finally got my hands on a nice broadcom chipset pcmcia wireless card and more importantly found the time to mod it. :-D

First I cracked the case open being careful not to break the little "tabs" on either side of the connector. There needed to maintain proper alignment. I simply superglued the tabs in place.

Then I cut the excess length off the card being careful not to damage any SMD components.

I then soldered on a antenna I got from a salvaged wireless router.

I superglued the antenna in place and added heatsinks on chips that ran hot. and vuala!

The whole card fits inside the pcmcia bay with nothing sticking out.
