Internet Connection for one Computer Not Working

The computer is a custom built computer I made for my mom back in December 2010. It has been connected to the internet and working fine until 2 days ago. Currently the three browers (firefox, chrome, ie) will only load certain parts of websites. Examples:

Front page of msn (homepage for ie)
Front page of yahoo (homepage for firefox and chrome)
Google searches (maps, news, websites... not external links though)
http://www.westell.com/ (modem company)

Any other websites (such as facebook) will not load. What I find odd is those homepages and google news get updated.

We have 2 other computers successfully accessing the internet (one wireless and one ethernet cable).

Information about the computer:
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
AMD Athlon II X4 ^40 Processor 3.00 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
Using Ethernet cable connected to the router
Modem Type: Westell LiteLine/ProLine Model E90-610015-06
Router Type: Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router model WPN824v3
Verizon DSL internet connection

I have tried:
ccleaner
checked if the ethernet cable was the issue
checked if the port on the router was the issue
turned on and off modem and router
called verzion tech support (worst mistake)
ping / nslookup websites
checked if C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts had anything other than # lines
ran Norton Internet Security scan in safe mode with networking
chkdsk /f /r
sfc /scannow
