When I'm usin the Administrator Account, the icon in the Internet Explorer doesn't show. But when I use the Guest Account it shows.

I just newly update the Internet Explorer to the latest version.

Try going to your IE folder and right-clicking on the IE icon and create a shortcut. Then drag it to your desktop.

Anyone can help me? I can't still figure out how to fix this thing. I've tried what you suggested but it didn't work.

    1. Open Notepad (Click Start, Run, type notepad.exe)
    2. Cut and Paste the below lines. (Ignore the Start from Here and End Here lines)

    # Start from Here

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
    "{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000

    # End Here

    3. Save the file with an extension .REG and double-click it to add the Registry value.
    4. Refresh (F5) the Desktop.
NOTE: The same registry file can be used in Windows Vista also.

Nope. Nothing happens with the icon. I will repeat it again that the problem is in the Start Menu. The icon still won't show the icon of Internet Explorer. :(

I have been totally misunderstanding you , even though you've said it wasn't in the start menu several times. :banghead Go to your internet explorer folder, right click on the explorer icon, and there should be an option that says "PIN TO START MENU". Click on that and your problem should be solved.

Does the new link work? If so remove the old one and use the new.
