internet lagging out

i'm posting this thread for a friend

when he's playing a game his internet will like restart he will get DC from the game and from msn (we use audio chat) so i'm wondering if his router or the actual modem could be restart for some reason

 

oh and another thing i dont know if thi matters but it seems to be random it's happened many time but it dosent always happen...

I've had that happen to me before.

The problem was that on my internet options, I had on "disconnect when idle" It was a dial up setting that would disconnect from the net after x time of inactivity.

Also when i got my new laptop, it would also ping off and on. After updating the driver for my network card, it stopped.
