Ios on a catalyst 2950

Im in a cisco networking class and one of the switches will not boot, and i am working on recovering the switch but cannot find out how. following is the output i get from the switch

The system is unable to boot automatically. The BOOT

environment variable needs to be set to a bootable

image.

It looks like you might have a bad Boot Image. It's crashing even before it tries loading the Cisco IOS.

Were you having any trouble with the switch before this occurred?
