Is it a good idea to disabling dhcp?

    I was told by a gaming site I want to play on if I can not configure my router to let me in that I will have to disable my dhcp is this ok to do or can it hurt my pc? :eek:

    It depends on your setup.

    It can't hurt your PC. You can always go back and change it if you encounter problems.

    If you mean the DHCP Client in XP, go to Start, Run and type in services.msc then OK.

    Scroll down to DHCP and double-click it, then stop and disable and apply.


    Don't change anything else in there, and if you have problems, just enable it again.
