Is it better to uninstall a troublesome program In Safe Mode?

Discussion in 'Software' started by conceptualclarity, Oct 16, 2014.

  1. I recently installed a program that at first I thought was cool but then gave me grief. SnoopFree Privacy Shield. It allowed me to whitelist my screenshot programs, but then it went on and crippled them. Very unacceptable behavior for software. Then I lost the ability to use my Start Menu (except the Start Button) and the vertical portion of my Quick Launch. If I do use them they freeze and won't get off the screen and the taskbar freezes as well.

I have not been able to uninstall all traces of SnoopFree Privacy Shield in normal mode, because my uninstaller programs keep on showing it in their lineup after supposedly removing it. I can use 2 out of my 3 screenshot programs in Safe Mode. Should I run my uninstallers there instead?

I'll wager you've got it, but have you tried RevoUnintstaller?

  4. Thank you. I do utilize Revo. I installed Everything.

I did a search with a lucky misspelling. I found there was a driver in system32 named SnopFree. Deleting it liberated my system. Now I can bring up the Glary Utilities GUI, which I hadn't been able to do. Now I can use my screenshot programs, and above all, now I can use the Start Menu and Quick Launch again.
