I am in a hurry to get a laptop and there is one on sale at best buy that looks like a helluva deal. however, i'm afraid it's too good to be true and i'll end up wishing i'd bought something else.
it's $399.00 (which is about what i can spend) but it normally goes for $699.00
    stats:
    toshiba wireless notebook
intel celeron M processor 380 notebook with DVD/CD-RW combo drive
    256MB DDR2 memory, 40GB hard drive
    ATI RADEON XPRESS 2OOM graphics

i don't plan to be gaming with it. Mostly working in photoshop, listening to music and surfing the web.

So should i snap this up, or wait and research this purchase? does the above info indicate whether the memory can be upgraded? HD? Any advice would be most appreciated.

    Link?

The ram is too anemic for any type of photoshop work, or even typical XP use. The drive will be full before you know it.

I avoid celeron processors in general. All I know is that you might want to save up some, cause it will suck in a few years when your aching for performance and can't upgrade. I haven't looked at purchasing a laptop in years, so that is all I can offer for now.

    Is this the system?

That's a rather low end laptop, but if you're on a budget you're probably not exactly expecting to get a cutting edge machine. It does say the ram is upgradeable to 2 gig. It does not appear, however, that the graphics card is and it's integrated graphics with shared memory. That's a pretty slow processor too. Usually when systems go on huge sales like this, it's because they're no longer actively supported and their hardware is outdated. That's a good thing for people who have limited resources and really just need a low end system to get by. Not so good for system longevity.

If you're on a budget, it doesn't look that bad. You can upgrade the RAM pretty easy.
