Is Visual Basic 2008 the same as VB.net?

Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot...I've decided to work on programming, and I'd like to learn VB.net, since it is part of the .net platform. I found a really good book, "Visual Basic 2008 Step by Step" on the cheap so I picked it up. It's kind of ambiguous in the book though. Are VB 2008 and VB.net the same?

Yes they are pretty much the same thing. I would suggest you hang out in some VB forums and take at look at vbasic.net. They have some tutorials and guides for Visual Basic. Good Luck!
