ISP connection monitoring software?

Hi,

I'm connected to Road Runner broadband and my computer (Win XP) is hard wired to my Linksys router (dd-wrt). It seems like I have an intermittent connection problem. If I open my home page, then open a smaller page on top of it, every once in a while it looks like my home page (Google) refreshes itself. This happens much faster than if I were to hit the "refresh" button. My emails reload, chat names reload, etc. Occasionally, web pages I'm on will just drop. Since it's an intermittent problem, the techs never "see" the problem and can't fix it. Some days it happens frequently, some days not at all. It's not a weather related issue and I've tried IE8, Chrome and Firefox which haven't fixed it either.

My question is: is there any type of software that can record my ISP connectivity? Something that would show when there were drop offs, signal loss, interferrence?

My APC battery backup came with a software program that constantly monitored my a/c connection and would indicate if there were ever brown outs / black outs / noise, etc. Is there something similar for my internet connection that I could show to my ISP tech?

you might want to check in the ddwrt software on the router, i think there's some kind of monitoring program in it. I'm not able to look at mine, cause i'm at someone else's house, but i will when I get home.
