    Hi,

I am running Windows 7 and have been having problems downloading files from the internet using internet explorer.

Whatever file I try to download in IE (including known safe files linked from this site such as RogueKiller etc) I get the same message that
""filename" contained a virus and was deleted."

Google Chrome will let me download files without problem.

I have disabled AVG anti-virus (by uninstalling) and this did not help. I cannot reinstall AVG (I have downloaded the latest version and get the following error on trying to run the .exe file

    "Installation cannot continue.
Error message: Specified file was not found
    Error code: 0xE001003D"

Finally when I try to run Disk Defragmenter, I get the following error
"The program can't start because FLTLIB.DLL is missing from your computer...."

I have run the Read and Run Me First procedure and attach the logs to this post.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

    Elwood

When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

Please re run Hitman and have it delete Potential Unwanted Programs and also, on the Repairs tab - have it fix whatever possible.

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.
    • Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
    • Now select the Start Repairs tab.
    • The click the Start button.
    • Create a System Restore point if prompted.
    • On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
    • Now select the following repair options:
      • Reset Registry Permissions
      • Reset File Permissions
      • Register System Files
      • Repair WMI
      • Repair Windows Firewall
      • Remove Policies Set By Infections
      • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
      • Repair Proxy Settings
      • Repair Windows Updates
      • Set Windows Services To Default Startup
    • Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

After reboot, check to see if your firewall is working.

Re run both Hitman and RogueKiller (just scans) and attach the logs.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

I have run RogueKiller and deleted the registry entries:

    [HJ INPROC][ZeroAccess] HKCR\[...]\InprocServer32 : (C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-21-1720681206-3300528056-3929723113-1000\$fb83341cf18c1fdd9400941911ad6685\n. [x]) -> FOUND
    [HJ INPROC][ZeroAccess] HKCR\[...]\InprocServer32 : (C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-18\$fb83341cf18c1fdd9400941911ad6685\n. [x]) -> FOUND
    [HJ INPROC][ZeroAccess] HKLM\[...]\InprocServer32 : (C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-18\$fb83341cf18c1fdd9400941911ad6685\n. [x]) -> FOUND

I could not find any delete button or check boxes for the files / folders tab in RogueKiller.

I attach the log file created by RogueKiller.

I ran Hitman it found 36 threats, but none that it gave me the option to fix (unless I couldn't find the correct button). I attach the log it created.

Please can you tell me where to find Repair_Windows.exe, I have not been able to find this program on my hard drive.

I have not run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat on the assumption that I need to run Repair_Windows.exe first.

    Thanks
    Elwood

Sorry for the delay, it has taken me a while to get this working (I got the screen glitch below every time I ran Hitman). I have attached the logs.

I can now download files from IE.

I have redownloaded AVG and tried to install and I still get the following error:

    "Installation cannot continue.
Error message: Specified file was not found
    Error code: 0xE001003D"

Also, I forgot to mention before that I sometimes get a problem where the left half of the screen freezes while the other half still works OK, but will corrupt over time. When I reboot I often see red colons all over the bios screen (ie the first screen on boot, before Windows loads).

    Thanks for all your help.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • Right-click OTM.exe And select " Run as administrator " to run it.
    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.

    Code:
    :reg
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\AddInExpress.OutlookSecurityManager]
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{0194532A-A99C-4337-937E-2A452C8957BE}]
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{92E5039E-FF1E-4AFB-8F24-87592D20C383}]
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{20E1481B-E285-4ABC-ADC7-AE24842B81CD}]
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\Interface\{0194532A-A99C-4337-937E-2A452C8957BE}]
    [-HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{92E5039E-FF1E-4AFB-8F24-87592D20C383}]

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large [IMG] button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document into a text file and attach it here in your next post.

Download and run the avg removal tool.

Re run Hitman and attach the new log.

Reboot the machine and now atempt to reinstall avg again. Let me know what occurs. :)

    Most welcome. :) Safe surfing!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
