RegCleaner has a backup option. I've always deleted everything it has chosen. Never retrieved anything from backup; never had a lockup or crash because of this.
    What OS are you running?

    Erotomania,

Not to steal any thunder away from this bulletin board and its members, but the host site of RegClearner/JVPT has a bulletin board to submit your questions on the programl. The program's author and his co-administrators can help you with your questions.

Regcleaner has not been updated in a long time. You should switch over to JV16 Powertools.http://majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=462&cat=1

It is exactly like regcleaner but is updated regularly and has many other useful features not found in regcleaner. In JV16 Powertools all the items that are safe to delete will have a green dot next to them. That doesn't mean you shouldn't backup the registry though.
