    hi,

i have a little question or 2, i have downloaded the rpm software 'thingies' from PLF for my linux, there are loads of different java packages,
does anyone know if one of these is equal to the java runtime in windows,
its the only plugin i havn't got for firefox,
i know i can download and install it manually from sun, but whats the point if its already in my software management,

    thanks for any help

    mandriva linux 2008
    KDE
    firefox

    hi,

thanks for the link, i already had all the packages via urpmi, still a little confused about which java i should install,
at the moment i have jamvm (and its dependancies) but when i try to play an online game (runescape) it says i have no java installed - same when i test my java at sun,
java is enabled in firefox and i've re-booted to be sure

    From the article.

If its not showing in Firefox, its probably fixable with a symlink.

    hi,

just an update - and maybe info

got my java up and running,

its the java-1.7.0-icedtea-plugin that needs to be installed from the urpmi packages in software management - took me a while but i found it

don't know whether this is for any other distro, but it works for mandriva 2008
