Hi, I'm a newbie and new here.

I have Windows XP, use Internet Explorer and Firefox as my browsers.

I detected on my Program List 2 (two) Java Runtime Environment programs:

    1) J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2

    2) Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2_03

My question is: Do I need them BOTH?

If not, which one needs to be deleted?

Thank you so much for your help.

No, you don't need both of them. Uninstall the older one (1.4.2_03). Even better, uninstall both, and install the latest version, update 4. You can download it here:

    I recommend the offline install.

Next time check the MG's downloads for java before you find other links.

Delete the other two java programs as greenknight32 suggested and reboot when you unistall each java program(unless not told too) and then install the new java.

Sun Java J2SE Runtime Environment 1.5.0 Update 4
