    Kaspersky Anti-Virus Weekly Update 12/31/04 [ 57 Kb | Freeware | Win All]

This program has become a problem for me and i am unable to remove it from my computer.

I downloaded it here from 'MajorGeeks.com'.

I went into safe-mode after trying all other ways to uninstall or remove this program....in safe-mode...i was able to put the Kaspersky folder into the the recyle-bin and delete it. I also used Hijack-This to remove 1 entry from the Registry.

Now several things on my computer do not work

I can no longer use my search tool from the startbar
I can no longer access the Windows Update Icon from the start bar
Whenever i right-click anything at all...this Kaspersky program tries to reinstall itself again and again
I no-longer get the regular popup when i right click on the desktop to create a new folder or try to unzip something or whatever...all i get now is Kasperskys Damn program trying to reinstall itself

Can someone help me out to remove this Kaspersky program from my computer???

I noticed that you have two posts on the same subject! That is considered bad form/protocol on this forum. If anyone had an answer, it would have been given on your first post. Unless I'm wrong, most of the members of this site use either Avast, AVG, or AntiVir, and I could be wrong! Did you try to delete Kaspersky by going to the Control Panel and using Add/Remove Programs? I just visited their web site, and I didn't see a removal tool/application. Did you check the Kaspersky folder for an uninstall/removal file?

Opinions as to which application is best on this site tend to favor Avast and AVG, from reading previous polls. Any program that you use that does what you want it to do, and does it well, is a winner in my book. Not trying to start a flame war, as I'm only going by the polls that I have seen! Have a Happy New Year! :)

Found a great utility for removing 'Kaspersky' or any other malicious program. This utility was able to remove it instantaneoulsy and also all of its after-affects to my computer.

    A few of which were...
-My search tool from the start-bar was incapacitated
-My 'Windows Update' in Start>All Programs brought up a blank page
-Any right-clicking started 'Kaspersky' to reinstall
-My 'Shredder.Exe' was modified to reinstall 'Kaspersky'...and my Shredder.Exe never had that happen to it before!.

So i found this 'UNINSTALLER SOFTWARE'... called 'MyUninstaller'...an extremely EXCELLENT product!.

    Retributar,
Is your diaper rash acting up today? I'm sorry if my comments caused you any grief, but was only giving site protocol. I believe that should have been crainial, and I'm not that smart, so thanks for the compliment. As for anal, I can be but will refrain from doing so. I hate to think that I wasted any of your time and space, but was only trying to help with your problem. Have a Happy New Year :) , and get some talcum powder for the rash!

I have a question- it's more "Banal-Insane'L-Subverted"- but, did you actually have the A.V. program, or did you just download the update? :D

Truth is 'MikeH' i dont really know what i got!...its from this web-site...and, perhaps it was an update...nevertheless,...why should an update if that is what it is be so controlling and so destructive on Windows?...what gives?...an unzipped update should indicate somehow that it has no directory or main program to goto instead of installing itself in 'C'-Drive... in 'Program Files' and then begin its reign of terror!

Go try it yourself and find out...if you run into a problem this download will eradicate Kaspersky for you...

Something similar happened to me. I bought this computer used a few months ago. Seller threw in some software, including McAfee A.V. The A.V. subscription had expired (I didn't know, this is my 1st computer); when I tried downloading the engine update and new virus definitions, they had "nowhere to go"; all I know is I had to reformat and reload Windows because everything hosed up. Very similar problems to yours- someone a lot smarter than me probably could tell you why, and that's all I know. Thanks, but I'll pass on the download (been there, done that ;)
