Kazaa lite not working!!!

Its been about 3 weeks since i last used it, and now when i try to open it up it goes straight to and error report. I upgraded my earthlink to total access 2005 and that is the only thing that i have done. Could this be the problem? And are there any other good allternitives to K.lite k++ out there that i do not know about?

 

Did you try re-installing it?

 

Ive reinstalled it and my Earthlink software.

 

There's E-mule http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4157.html , WinMX http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2230.html and Shareaza, which isn't on MG http://www.shareaza.com/ . These are spyware free, unlike Kazaa lite. Spyware bogs down your CPU, eats up your internet bandwidth, and takes up space on your hard drive. Get rid of it now, and Bullguard if you are using it. Read this if you don't know what spyware is, read this http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25834 . Earthlink may be blocking it, also.

I was unaware that K-Lite had any spyware -what spyware are you referring to? Neither Spybot S&D, nor AdAware are catching anything... maybey I have an earlier version?
-Again, 'Kazaa-Lite' does not have any spyware that *I* can detect.

You are correct Fiver... the whole reason Kazaa Lite was created was to provide the same pear-2-peer service but without the spyware that was bundled with the original Kazaa... I use it on my computer and it's currently working...

 

You are right. It used to have spyware, but they stripped it out. Apparently it is no longer supported by it's authors for legal reasons now. The others are good alternatives, though, and are still supported by their authors.

 

Forget Kazaa, which is ridden with spybots (13 and plus) and god knows how many viruses. I joined Ares, which is very safe and the FBI aren't paying attention to them. Not to mention they can't put tracking bugs on files like they do in Kazaa.

Join Ares, look for the SHODAN1_PC_Hub!

Oh yeah, no banners, pop ups, ect.

 

Where can I get info on Ares. I have E-mule but files seem to have a hard time connecting.

It's easy to destroy a good rep, and nearly impossible to get away from a bad one. Kazaa will have a long time living down it's past.

 

I've been wrong before, and I don't have any problem learning from my mistakes. If you want to enlighten me, tell me what I need to know or at least send me in the right direction to find out for myself, as others have done for me here at MG. I'm here to learn and appreciative for all the help I've got. Don't waste my time with weak insults. Ignorance is a fault, disrespect is a failing.

 

Thank you for your information. I would take greater pride in how I treat those around me, though, both literally and virtually, than I would in knowing a piece of relatively unimportant trivia. Perhaps you should, too. It's not a big enough issue to stand upon and look down on us as if we are your inferiors. It's just a shame you don't see that.

 

My experience with klite is that it is great software, the only problem is the people who use the software are anything but, kazaa and klite are plagued by people who find it humorous to ruin songs by scrambling them, add viruses, and put porn into just about everything you try to dl from them. I still use klite but i am more commonly using bit torrent, bt rocks so hard!!, i have never once gotten a virus, fake file, or anything other than what was specified. The way i see it people who are techno-savvy should be way past the horrors of standard p2p and move onto bit torrent

To get bit torrent google search "bit torrent" and you should have no problem

BT is a great idea. And almost free of viruses too. WinMX is good too, but has got lots of viruses, pRon... etc.

 

The reason you can tell it has spyware and adware is just by going explorer and to the kazaa lite folder it has a bunch of other folders that are associated with spyware such as Gain (if you visit there website it says that it is a product used to advertise through popups and you can purchase it and put it in another, bigger software bundle.). Also it has stuff like "My search bar" which is adware.

 

Neo... Kazaa Lite does not come with any of this stuff you mention... perhaps you are referring to the regular Kazaa...
