I recently got a used laptop from work(old pentium 3 laptop), and it often types keys twice. Its very frustrating and happens when I type fast. I am running XP.

Example. This is an example of thte errors that I get when I type. Noticie earlieer how the has two ts. It can someetimes go between letters (thte wiith the t repeated)

This is VERY frustrating when typing anything
I have tried reinstallinig my keyboard drivers, which didn't work.

I have checked the keyboard settings in the control panel, and the problem is not there.

    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I have the similar problem. Sometimes there are no letters appeare then i type fast. So the reason is my keyboard, I have to push very strongly.
May be your keyboard too sensitive? Try another one.

    It's a laptop !! (doh) :D

Suggest you try an external desktop keyboard to see if the problem persists.
It probably won't. Get a can of compressed air (for cleaning computers, camera lenses, etc.) and give the laptop keyboard a good blast. Make sure the first few blasts are away from the keyboard to get rid of any moisture in the can before using on the keyboard. Set the laptop on it's left or right edge and squirt the contents away from you. No guarantees, but it might help. Bazza

I'll try. Right now, I am on vacation though, and don't have access to another keyboard or compressed air

Oh, i forgot another part of the problem. When I try to do control + a or ctrl + t or any ctrl commands, it often does nothing or just replaces the hilighted text with the letter. FOr example, ctrl + a then ctrl + c often results in all the text becoming the letter c.

    What make and model laptop?
Maybe the IT techs at your work would be willing to help check out the keyboard for you.
If not, maybe contact the manufacturer's website. Check out if they have a FAQ section, or Hardware support, or send them an e-mail via "Contact us".

Sorry I can't suggest anything else more constructive. Bazza
