keyboard & mouse died while puter turned off.

hi, guys.

between the time I rebooted my computer and the logon screen came up, my wireless keyboard and mouse died. i have no f-key to get to dos.

how can i download software for new mouse and kb. nothing happens when I put the cd into the drive, the cursor shows the cd icon, but the program doesn't open.

this happened in the middle of my doing the 'read and run' trying to determine the cause of other enormously frustrating problems w/my puter.:wave

i appreciate any assistance from you wonderful 'geeks'.

First thing I would try is a wired keyboard. Should at least get you to the BIOS, if not safe mode.:wave:wave

 

wireless requires batteries, are they good? :-o

is the receiver still plugged in?
try to reconnect from the keyboard reset/mouse reset? receiver reset?

 

ok, i had replaced the batteries, but i forgot to
push the connect buttons. thanks so much for
