I have an new Labtec Media desktop 800 wireless Keyboard & Mouse which I am having no success in connecting to my Desktop PC which is running Windows Vista home premium.
However it does work OK on our Laptop running Win XP Home,
My desktop PC has a ASUSTek P5N-MX 1.xx motherboard, incorporating a NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet card, with an Intel 2.4Ghz Core2 Quad Q6600 CPU with 4Gb RAM running Windows Vista Home Premium with all current updates.
I have tried all USB sockets on my PC and nothing works, I've also removed all previous USB mouse drivers and now get the error message:

Found new hardware – unknown device.

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.

Windows found driver software for you device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

    USB browser mouse

An error occurred during installation of the device:

The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later.

    Contact your hardware vendor.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

Obviously this last bit will not work as Labtec tell me that the Media Wireless Desktop 800 does not require any other software or drivers , however after a BIOS update to my PC, the Keyboard is now working fine, but still no connection with the mouse!

I have all current Microsoft updates installed, the only Mouse shown in 'System' 'Device Manager' is 'PS/2 Compatible Mouse'
and all the USB drivers are up to date.
And other than the Vista OS the only other Microsoft programmes installed are:-
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.7.0.6000 *
Microsoft Clip Gallery Version 5.1.00.1221 *
Microsoft Corp. - Windows Live Writer Version 14.0.8064.0206 * Microsoft Corporation - digital locker assistant Version 1.6.5 *

    Microsoft® FrontPage® 2000 Version 4.0.2.2717 *
    Microsoft® Publisher 2000 Version 6.0 Version 6.0 *

But still the mouse does not work!

Can anybody suggest a solution please

    Regards
    Chris
