I just did a clean install of XP Pro SP2 on a Dell laptop using the Dell OEM CD that came with the PC. Formatted the hard drive, loaded Windows, so far so good. At some point during one of the reboots during setup, the F8 boot options menu started coming up. Now it comes up every time the PC is turned on or rebooted. It came up after each driver required a reboot, and after the Windows updates required a reboot. I've seen this before, but it was due to a "renegade" switch that somehow installed itself in the boot.ini file. But this time, the boot.ini is fine, it looks totally normal. Any ideas?
