    Hi there,

A friend's grandma came to me with this laptop. Basically:

    • Can't connect to the internet
    • On start up it complains about Perl packages
    • On start up it complains about a dll file not being present
    • I have run sfc /scannow but that comes back fine
    • I ran Segate Tools on the disk and that reports ok.
    • I've run a chkdsk /f on the hard drive which fixed a load of things, but not reports ok
    • I am unable to run Roguekiller, it just hangs at initialisation
    • MGTools kept complaining that it couldn't write some log files

Attached the logs minus the Roguekiller one. Would appreciate you taking a look.

It's driving her mad because she can't get on Facebook, which I think is the coolest thing I've ever heard, that generation on Facebook.

    :)

I'll try to see if I can run Roguekiller from Safemode if nothing else.

    :)

Weird, I didn't think this had posted. Here's the other log.

Here's the Roguekiller Log from safe mode

    I'm unable to:

    • Uninstall unwanted programs or toolbars from add/remove programs because it tells me that the uninstall programs cannot be found

Error messages (think they're to do with Panda AntiVirus which isn't working or wanting to uninstall):

    Code:
    Inicio.exe - System Error
X The program can't start because rtl120.bpl is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

    Code:
    C: ApVxdWin.exe - System Error
X The program can't start because rtl120.bpl is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

    Above appears 13 times

    Code:
    Error
X The specified module could not be found. LoadLibrary(pythondll) failed

    Code:
    Error
    X C:\Program Files (x86)\Uniblue\DriverScanner\PYTHON27.DLL

    Thanks!

Use Revo Uninstaller to be rid of these:

    • Advanced System Protector
    • Disk Speedup
    • SweetIM for Messenger 3.6
    • Update Manager for SweetPacks 1.0

    [IMG] Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [ZeroAccess] (X64) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1564075357-2931678456-652804168-1000\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run | Google Update??❤ : "C:\Users\pat\AppData\Local\Google\Desktop\Install\{ad9ed341-3189-b4e5-8a91-df3ae2919001}\❤≸⋙\Ⱒ☠⍨\?ﯹ๛\{ad9ed341-3189-b4e5-8a91-df3ae2919001}\GoogleUpdate.exe" > -> FOUND
    • [ZeroAccess] (X86) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1564075357-2931678456-652804168-1000\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run | Google Update??❤ : "C:\Users\pat\AppData\Local\Google\Desktop\Install\{ad9ed341-3189-b4e5-8a91-df3ae2919001}\❤≸⋙\Ⱒ☠⍨\?ﯹ๛\{ad9ed341-3189-b4e5-8a91-df3ae2919001}\GoogleUpdate.exe" > -> FOUND
Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.

...and the same for this entry on the files/folder tab please...

    • [ZeroAccess][Folder] Install -- C:\Users\pat\AppData\Local\Google\Desktop\Install -> FOUND
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • Right-click OTM.exe And select " Run as administrator " to run it.
    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.
    Code:
    :Files
    C:\PROGRA~2\SearchProtect\SearchProtect
    C:\ProgramData\Conduit
    C:\ProgramData\Systweak
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Advanced System Protector
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Disk Speedup
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Advanced System Protector
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Disk Speedup
    C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPC Backup
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SweetIM

    :reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
    "AppInit_DLLs"=""
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{9a216821-0ec5-49a3-85ac-fb72ae79a1e8}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{EEE6C360-6118-11DC-9C72-001320C79847}]
    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large [IMG] button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into a text file to ATTACH into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

[IMG] Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Re run RogueKiller (just a scan) and attach log.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    @Kes -
Just a remind that Revo does not support 64bit OS's. The below does ->
    GeekUninstaller 1.3.1.38

Hi, ran through the steps. Log files are attached. There are 3 Rogue Killer logs:

    1. The deletion result
    2. A scan run immediately after the deletion
    3. A scan run after all the other activities were completed

It seems a lot happier, although not "right":

    • Laptop still hangs when shutting down. Have to hold power button to switch off
    • Still unable to run Roguekiller in normal mode, has to be run from Safe Mode otherwise it stays in initialisation stage
    • Uninstalling Panda Internet Security resolved all the error messages at start up
    • Still can't connect to the internet wired or wireless.

    Regards,

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • O2 - BHO: McAfee Phishing Filter - {27B4851A-3207-45A2-B947-BE8AFE6163AB} - c:\progra~1\mcafee\msk\mskapbho.dll (file missing)
    • O2 - BHO: Toolbar BHO - {433ae6bf-a1fd-4a51-858e-6c26c7cd64db} - C:\PROGRA~2\HEADLI~2\bar\1.bin\29bar.dll (file missing)
    • O2 - BHO: Toolbar BHO - {7c8f8fe5-9785-4f74-bcf8-895ef9752d97} - C:\PROGRA~2\GAMING~2\bar\1.bin\gtbar.dll (file missing)
    • O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {b2bf7b3f-bf0b-4c48-aec6-f92c51be63e1} - (no file)
    • O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {ebd898f8-fcf6-4694-bc3b-eabc7271eeb1} - (no file)
    • O3 - Toolbar: GamingWonderland - {a899079d-206f-43a6-be6a-07e0fa648ea0} - C:\Program Files (x86)\GamingWonderland\bar\1.bin\gtbar.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

The below takes a long time so go off and do something else for a while.

Download Windows Repair by Tweaking.com and unzip the contents into a newly created folder on your desktop.
    • Now run Repair_Windows.exe by double clicking on it ( if you are running Vista or Win 7, use right click and select Run As Administrator)
    • Now select the Start Repairs tab.
    • The click the Start button.
    • Create a System Restore point if prompted.
    • On the next screen, click the Unselect All button to first deselect all repairs.
    • Now select the following repair options:
      • Reset Registry Permissions
      • Reset File Permissions
      • Register System Files
      • Repair WMI
      • Repair Windows Firewall
      • Remove Policies Set By Infections
      • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
      • Repair Proxy Settings
      • Repair Windows Updates
      • Set Windows Services To Default Startup
    • Now on the lower right side check the box to Restart/Shutdown System When Finished
    • Then make sure the Restart System radio button is enabled.
    • Shutdown any other programs that you are running now before continuing.
    • Now click the Start button.
    • Be patient while the tool repairs the selected items.
    • It should reboot automatically when finished.

After reboot, check to see if your firewall is working.

Are you able to connect now?

    Hi there,

Couldn't run the Tweaking.com Windows Repair in Windows Normal mode at first, so ran it in Safe Mode.

The repair kept retrying but failed.

I then booted into normal and tried again, and was able to run it. Windows restarted though, and I wasn't sat in front of it watching it when it did, so I don't know what it was complaining about.

It didn't get far through the repair though (2/12). I couldn't find what the reason was from Windows Logs.

I've attached the logs from Tweaking.com Windows Repair. The first 3 on the 14/09 were from Safe Mode. The 15/09 one was in normal mode.

I still can't connect to the internet, and I'm currently trying the repairs again. It's been running since 15:30 (it's now 19:47 and still on 02 - Reset File Permissions).

    Regards,
