Hey everyone. First post. Here goes.

I just bought a wireless adapter (linksys wmp600n) for my new desktop. Installed correctly but it picks up my network as a secured WEP network and not a WPA so my password won't work. Desktop uses windows 7 64bt

Internet works fine on my laptop, which reads it as WPA. Laptop uses vista 32bt with atheros AR5007 wireless card.

Logged onto the router website via 192.168.1.1 and made sure it was set to WPA as well.

    Router is netgear WGR614

    Anybody have any ideas?

not to sound silly, but did you change your SSID to something unique, just to be sure it's your network that you are trying to connect to?

Yes I'm sure it's my network. the SSID is a name that I created. Should I try changing the network to WEP and creating a new password via laptop and then trying or would I screw something up?
