laptop with no power problems

Im having a feeling it is the powersupply, but it started with the laptop randomly turning off. then one day it just turned off, and wouldnt turn back on. lately its been having HORRIBLE battery life, so id keep it on the charger, but now it dosent respond to anything, not lights or any thing

i took a part the case, and noted no physical damage, and i tested the a/c adaptor with a volt meter, and its def not bad.

could the powersupply be shot? if so, these are built into the mobo right? if i find a donor mobo could a "swap" be done, or is that not possible on laptops? im not used to wroking much w/ hardware on laptops, but im pretty adaptive.

Well, I don't want to disappoint you but, from what I found, it's your motherboard. For some reason or another this certain model as issues as you described. Many users have had this exact same problem.

Do you have a warranty? This laptop model is around 2+ years old, I believe.

If you don't have a warranty, you may want to contact HP/Compaq and see if this is a defective part (which I believe it is) and if they will replace it free of charge. (I believe I came across somewhere, someone got them to replace it for free.)

Oh, yeah. No problem.

I just hope HP/Compaq doesn't give you the runaround like other owners with the same issue.

 

ahaha got to love tech support. told me to try a powerdrain, and try it. and if not i have to send it to them for 289.00 to have it looked at by a techncian, to see if its the power core, or the mobo.

sigh. im gong to try ebay for a parts laptop maby i can swap it out for cheaper

 

yeah def told me to try a power drain and then id have to pay. lame. whats the secret to making these company's do what i want them to? lol

 

he told me he couldnt say if it was the power core or the MOBO, so he couldnt say what id need to replace. i saw a co on ebay that repairs this type of stuff, for 150 plus shipping, 99.8% posi feedback. here's a link to it.
