Laptop with serial port

I am currently searching for a new laptop that also includes an on-board serial port. It's all about convenience, I have a usb to serial converter, but with the diagnostic software I constantly use it would be a lot easier if it was just on-board. Can anyone point me towards any decent possibilities?

It will be hard to find one due to USB is the standard. Even Parallel ports are becoming a dead breed on computers nowdays. One less port to hog up bandwith. Only other thing is to get a PCMCIA Serial Card for the new machine.

 

Welcome to Major Geeks. One solution, although expensive, is to buy a port replicator if your laptop maker has one as an add-on accessory. They come in handy, in that you can plug all your cables into it, and simply detach your laptop from it, at any tiime, without cables. Also they usually come with a parallel port, if needed.

My Tecra A7 Toshiba laptop has a Port Replicator as a $$$ add on, with lots of ports, including 2 extra USB ports, serial, parallel and more.. Bazza
