Laptop Wont turn on

I got a used laptop my friend said it works it worked for a little while
then it wont turn on now.

What it does is i hit the power butten the fan starts up and light turns
on for few seconds then it shuts off.

I plugged it in to charge it and the battery light blinks. but it wont do anything any ideas how to fix it?

Unfortunately...
I find this a ongoing problem with older computers.
If... it is unplugged or has a drained battery for an extended period of time... it may not want to start.
My 7 year old Athlon 1GHz will do the same thing.

My advice is to just keep on trying.
Hold the start button longer... etc.
From my experience... it will eventually start and be right as rain again.

ok i am charging the battery right now the green light turns on when i plug it in how long should i let it charge also all i know about it is its a dell.
