Is it ok to have electronics such as receiver,cd player, speakers etc. near and lcd monitor or even a crt for that matter. I know that center speakers in home theater setups should be magneticly shielded if on top of a tv to prevent damage from the magnetic field.
    what do you recommend?

LCD's aren't effected by magnets. CRT's are pretty much high-quality tvs, so they will be affected.

So it would be fine to place the lcd monitor on top of a speaker... that will make the set up easier. Thanks.

Yes cathode ray tubes have a moveable coil on the neck to alter the picture up to 360 deagres this coil is what causes the magnetic field on the monitor [IMG]

the coil doesn't move, the magnetic field it generates moves to bend an electron beam to scan across the phosphor coating on the inside of the CRT to create the picture. Most , if not all, home theatre and computer speakers are shielded to prevent interference with the CRT picture.
