Hi guys I have a interrmittant Light blue screen or White Screen while loading battlfield play4free.

    BRIEF HISTORY
I recall having screen freezes (BF play4free) before I upgraded the Video card on this secondary PC. They continued after the new videocard was installed, but not as frequent.
More recently I suspected a virus infection after another person borrowed my PC. I posted in the malware removal forums and was told PC is clean so far. here is link
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=271033
I was told to post in another section so I starting with hardware as it seems like a hardware issue due to the re-occurance even after re-installs.

    LATEST PROBLEMS
Latest issues are light blue screen freeze after starting Battlefield play4free game(forced to reboot with button). Also lost internet connection at the same time as suspected malware infection.
I had a white screen freeze of whole monitor after leaving PC on all night(not using it but BF play4free was running.
I got a mostly black screen with various artifacts while trying to load the BM "Call of Pripyat"
I think maybe the scanners used in the malware forum may have helped but I still have main symptoms re-occurring.

    PC SPECIFICATIONS
MOBO: GAEP45-UD3LR rev 1.0 with BIOS ver F11
    CPU: Intel core2duo E8400 with Mugen2 Cooler
RAM: Mushkin DDR2 high performance memory and DDR2 800 memory that I use from time to time.
Hard Drive:WD 160 G SATA 2 drive with a Seagate 500 Gig SATA 2 as secondary (with page file too)
Power: Antec E500D 500 watt power supply
    Videocard: MSI GTS450 2GB

Thanks in advance for all your help I will post more info if needed.

    UPDATE :
I am providing an update of events and other information on the PC, in hopes of finding a solution quicker.

    BROWSER PROBLEMS
I still see Searchnu is working in google chrome as my search provider even though I have removed all associated software. It may also be collecting information on me as well so I am aware of this. A reinstall may be required as this is my back up PC which should remain bug free. I should have backups as well but not this time :( (image backups you know). I was told my PC was free of malware by tim so I dunno. (Screen Shot number two)

    GAME AND BM PROBLEMS
Before I forget last night there was another freeze of the game BFPlay4Free, luckily I was in windowed mode and could go to task manager to kill the process(BFP4f.exe). I have a screenie of that time and effects of redraw failure(I think)I have been running games this morning and seems to be working with exception of one problem with a white screen upon starting the game(log out and relog in cures this). I have noticed the responsiveness is poor compared to before. This may be to general hardware that is installed at the moment. ie slower WD 160 SATA 1 drive maybe? I thought it was SATA 2 but I do not know for sure till I take it out and look(looking ASAP). Also this was intended as a back up PC and not a fast speed demon due to the use of DDR2 800 RAM most of the time(reminds me I need to look for one more stick of Corsair DDR2 800).
The Benchmark Call of Pripyat did run twice this morning and I have some marks for your viewing pleasure.

    ADJUSTMENTS TO THE PC
    I have defragmented the C drive .
I have cleared both page files and reset them to the faster drive for now this seems to have helped a bit.
I deleted the files in the Prefetch folder except for the index file there.
As stated in the other post I have cleaned with Ccleaner and scanned for malware as per the instructions.
I have backed up my important files on to USB drive for now.
Yes I know I should be testing ram for about an hour with Memtest, checking for errors on the hard drive file system, rechecking voltages from the PS cleaned the case of any residual dust, running Prime 95 for hours on end and oh yeah return BIOS overclock to default values and yadda yadda yadda.....

Misc notes this PC has some residuals after the weather channel was removed and still has a entry in add remove programs. I does work more than not and I am still looking around for help thanks.

Well I have been thinking about this system and it purpose as a backup PC that is safe and secure. I have been thinking about the operating system that is installed at the moment and the poor condition of the registry with the two - three failed uninstalls of software(ilivid video software and the weather channel toolbar plust the SearchNU browser problem.) I have also experienced some problems with the USB ports of this build giving genuine BSOD (***USBPORT.SYS-Address B6FECD7F base at B6FE3000 Datestamp 480254ce)
This may be a hardware or driver issue now, so I will try plugging in different ports to test as I wait then restart to see if BSOD occurs.

If I cannot sort this problem then I will just reinstall and get a good Image of this OS to work with from here. I will also use some hardening putty to stuff in the USB port that seems to be burned out as well(or whatever google tells me to put in there..Hmm.) I will keep you informed thanks...:cool

Solved it by first reformatting and then reflashing the BIOS. I think the BIOS was corruped and reflashing re-wrote all information (BIOS Version F11 from gigabyte website there is a RAW beta (testing) BIOS at tweaktown forums-gigabyte section)
    Thanks
