Linsys vs SMC router hookup

I just purchased a used Linsys Wirless-G and am trying to use it to replace my SMC EZ switch 10/100 so that I can use my laptop wirlessly on the system. I have two towers hooked up to a KVM switch and both towers hooked up to my SMC EZ switch for internet use. Between my internet modem and my router I have a ooma telephone system switch, the system works fine like this but when I hooked up the Linsys router to my system, it would not pick up the internet, anyone know what,if anything I am doing wrong? Is the Linsys switch the wrong one for the system the way I have it hooked up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
